Appointment as Shadow Minister

APPOINTMENT AS SHADOW MINISTER FOR DEFENCE INDUSTRY, SHADOW MINISTER FOR WA RESOURCES AND SHADOW MINISTER ASSISTING FOR SMALL AND FAMILY BUSINESS

I was honoured last week to be elected by my colleagues to the Federal Labor front bench.

Federal Labor takes WA seriously and that’s now demonstrated by our new and expanded WA Shadow Ministry representation.

I’m excited to be taking on portfolio areas of Defence Industry and WA Resources, which are vitally important to WA and the nation as a whole. I also look forward to bringing a WA perspective to these portfolios as well as in assisting the Shadow Minister for Small & Family Business.

In all of these areas I will be focusing on building job opportunities as well as supporting businesses providing much needed employment opportunities and growth for our nation.

I also look forward to working with my fellow Western Australian colleague Madeleine King and congratulate her on her appointment to Shadow Cabinet in the Trade portfolio.

Together with Pat Dodson, Glenn Sterle, Josh Wilson and Louise Pratt there will be a strong voice for Western Australia in Labor’s leadership team.

Labor Leader Anthony Albanese has put together an exceptional Shadow Ministry team. I look forward to working with Richard Marles, Joel Fitzgibbon and Brendan O’Connor in my various portfolio responsibilities. Now we start work on building the best possible case for people to choose an Albanese Labor Government at the next election.
