GRANT SOWS SEED FOR COMMUNITY GARDEN GROWTH

26 March 2019

MATT KEOGH MP

FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BURT

Today I was proud to present the Southern River Community Garden with a grant to improve the accessibility of the garden for the whole community.

Ive secured the community garden $4,949 from the Burt Stronger Communities program to revamp the ground surface and footpaths amongst the garden beds.

In recent years community members have had to put up with an uneven gravel surface while tending to the garden, making visiting almost impossible for those with mobility challenges and families with prams.

The new surfacing works have made the garden more accessible for the whole community.

The garden is a fantastic partnership between the community, the Gosnells Council and Southern River College and has been well utelised by students at the college for scientific and nutritional education.

The work on the garden is just another way were building a better Burt for everyone.

The Burt Stronger Communities Program provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of our community.

Community groups interested in a grant in the future should contact my office.
