We're getting to work and fixing Denny Avenue

27 July 2018

After many years of community pressure and through the combined efforts of the WA Labor State Government and WA Federal Labor, works on Denny Avenue level crossing are about to get underway.

In various roles Ive been working to get this death trap fixed for over a decade, as has Armadale MLA, Dr Tony Buti and our predecessors Alannah MacTiernan and Don Randall.

Ive been working to get Denny Avenue fixed since my time as a community representative to the Armadale Redevelopment Authority in the early 2000s.

Even after being dubbed the most dangerous level crossing in the State, this crossing remained neglected.

In 2015, I secured a commitment from Federal Labor to replace the level crossing with an underpass connecting Albany Highway to Third Avenue.

That funding was recommitted in the 2016 Federal election, and Ive been hammering on about it in Canberra ever since.

The election of the McGowan Government in 2017 saw this commitment become a reality and in 2019, works will begin to ensure safer and faster journeys for our community.
