ROWING IS MAKING WAVES IN ARMADALE

MATT KEOGH MP

FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BURT

Today I was proud to present Rowing WA with a grant to build a shed and purchase new safety boats and rowing machines to support their Making Waves Program.

This $20,000 grant from the Burt Stronger Communities program will be a swell of support for the Making Waves program, a self-awareness and personal growth program for teenage boys and girls who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn to row.

Champion Lakes is one of only two international standard rowing courses in the country however to many locals its use remains a mystery.

Usually reserved for elite private schools, Rowing WA realises there is a lot of untapped rowing potential in our community and with a facility like Champion Lakes right on our doorstop, theres so much untapped potential in our community.

Wouldnt it be great to one day see a local team take on the elite schools of the Western Suburbs in the head of the river and win!

This grant will be a master stroke in helping this pilot program continue to grow in our community, to provide an opportunity to students they may never have experienced otherwise.

The Burt Stronger Communities Program provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of our community.

Community groups interested in a grant in the future should contact my office.
