I'm very pleased to share that expressions of interest for the 2021 Burt Stronger Communities Grant Programme are now open.
The Stronger Communities Programme supports the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits in communities across the country.
The program intends to encourage and support participation in local projects, improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.
Please note this round of grant funding looks a little different to previous years as it has a continued focus on Australia’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. For this special round, grant funding will be up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs except for local governing bodies where grant funding will be up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.
Each electorate has total funding of up to $150,000 that can be allocated to successful applications. A maximum of 20 projects will be funded in each electorate.
The grant amount for small capital projects is up to 100% of eligible project costs, except for local governing bodies where grant funding will be up to 50% of eligible project costs. Your grant request must be between $2,500 and $20,000.
For this special round ‘in kind’ expenditure is not eligible expenditure.
Projects under round 6 of the program will have up to 31 December 2021 to complete. Please take special account of this date as in previous years the time permitted for the project is much longer.

The first stage of the grant process is expressions of interest - they closed on 1 February - we will be in touch with next steps for all applicants.
