HARRISDALE LIBRARY FULLY BOOKED
A Shorten Labor Government will provide $2.5 million for a new library in Harrisdale.
Harrisdale and Piara Waters are two of the fastest growing suburbs in WA and the public library to be located near the new Stockland Harrisdale Shopping Centre will serve this young community well into the future.
Effective library programs and services are proven to help individuals increase their knowledge and skills, and change attitudes and behaviours whilst encouraging communities to be more inclusive and creative.
Providing educational resources for a library in such a young community will be a fantastic asset for community members from birth to beyond.
The facility is expected to be operational by 2021 and will accommodate a wide range of library and community-based programs and activities.
Funding a new library in our growing outer suburbs is part of Labors commitment to ensure people in WAs new suburbs get a fair go by being able to access facilities similar to those available in more-established suburbs.
This commitment joins Labors previous commitments of duplicating Armadale Road, the new Armadale road bridge at the Freeway and our $300,000 in Stronger Communities grants to local groups across the community.
