Minister for Infrastructure Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King today joined with Member for Burt Matt Keogh to visit the Southern Districts Netball Association in Langford, in Perth’s south-eastern suburbs.

The Australian Government will contribute $5 million towards the redevelopment of the centre, a $12.5 million project to build a new indoor facility featuring four courts and associated amenities.

The project will provide accessible facilities designed for a range of age groups by delivering targeted programs that enhance physical mobility, strengthen community connection and have an overall positive impact on health outcomes.

The centre will also become a permanent home for the Southern Districts Netball Association, a district-level organisation that has produced state and national representatives.

Having this home base will increase the association’s capacity to meet the demand for local competition, while reducing the economic burden associated with having to travel elsewhere to meet their needs.

The City of Gosnells has estimated up to 26 full-time jobs will be created during construction, with the capacity to generate further employment for the life of the facility through community programs.

This project is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program, the Western Australian State Labor Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation facilities fund grant and the City of Gosnells.

It is expected to be completed in 2025.
