DELIVERING A NEW PLAYGROUND FOR SOUTH EASTERN SUBURBS HINDU COMMUNITY

Labor is continuing to deliver for Perth’s Hindu community, today committing $50,000 in funding for a new playground at Chinmaya Mission in Forrestdale.

Established in 1998, Chinmaya Mission Perth is a Hindu organisation dedicated to spiritual, educational and charitable activities. The charity runs a wide variety of programs for all ages, from infant playgroups through to seniors’ classes.

With many young families supporting the Mission’s volunteering activities, a shortage of suitable child-friendly amenities has been a concern for members of the Hindu community in Perth’s south eastern suburbs.

This $50,000 election commitment for a new playground will include a multi-level climbing frame with monkey bars, slides and a flying fox, as well as a swing set, spinner and double rocker.

This funding will support the growing Hindu community in Perth’s south eastern suburbs, as well as the increasing number of young families who have made this region their home.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Matt Keogh, Federal Member for Burt:

“We want to make it easier for families to support the charitable work of Chinmaya Mission and other community organisations.

“This new playground to be delivered by a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will provide more child-friendly options for those volunteering with the Mission, which supports many new migrants to our community.

“Labor has always been a friend to Perth’s multicultural organisations, and the commitment that I’ve secured today continues that legacy.”
