LABOR SUPPORTING NATURE FOCUSED PLAYGROUND FOR ARMADALE FAMILIES

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $50,000 towards a new playground at the Armadale Community Family Centre, offering study and cultural programs for kids in Perth’s south-eastern suburbs.

For over 30 years, the volunteer-run Family Centre in Seville Grove has provided free support for families across the community, including playgroups, parenting workshops, food relief and help with government services.

By delivering funding for this new state-of-the-art playground, Labor is ensuring the Family Centre can continue to service the growing culturally and linguistically diverse communities in the region.

The existing playground at the Family Centre is undersized and outdated compared to the growing demand from families, who have come to rely on the supports provided by the Family Centre.

The new playground will have a strong focus on Nature Play, an approach that encourages children to engage with, and learn about, the natural environment in a fun and safe way.

Nature Play approaches have proven to have several benefits for children, including improved physical and mental development, as well as stronger social skills, emotional wellbeing, and connection to the environment.

This election commitment builds on Labor’s past support for the Armadale Community Family Centre, recognising it as a vital gathering place for the local community.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Matt Keogh, Federal Member for Burt:

“I’ve been a longtime advocate for the Armadale Community Family Centre and have met many young working families that rely on the work of its volunteers.

“It’s clear that the existing playground at the Armadale Community Family Centre is too small to handle the demand from families in the area, and I’m very happy to deliver this funding for our growing, diverse community.

“I’m incredibly proud to be part of a Labor Government that’s focused on supporting the great work of community organisations like the Family Centre.”
