FEDERAL LABOR SUPPORTING WESTERN AUSTRALIAS INDIAN COMMUNITY

A Shorten Labor Government will support Western Australias growing Indian population with a $3.5 million investment in community facilities.

After six years of cuts and chaos, Scott Morrison and the Liberals continue to neglect Australias migrant and multicultural communities.

We need real change because more of the same isnt good enough.

Labor knows that modern Australia and multicultural Australia are the same thing, and Perth is home to almost 50,000 Indian migrants.

Established in 1972, the Indian Society of WA (ISWA) seeks to foster the participation of Indian ethnic communities in the development of a cohesive, culturally pluralistic society to stimulate and promote appreciation of Indian culture across WA.

Federal Labor will assist with the integration and support of our growing Indian communities and will provide $2.5 million towards the fit out of the new ISWAs Community Centre in Willetton.

The ISWA Community Centre will be a world-class multipurpose venue that will become a hub for the wider community.

In addition to this commitment, we will provide as well as $1 million for support of various Indian communities and associations throughout Perth.

Federal Labors $250,000 commitment to each of the following communities will support facility upgrades at:

  • Bala Murugan Temple, Mandogalup.
  • Perth Hindu Temple, Canning Vale.
  • Sikh Gurdwara Perth, Bennet Springs.
  • Sikh Temple Perth, Canning Vale.

Labors commitment to improving facilities across Western Australia will help our rapidly growing Indian Community participate in their cultural and religious traditions, as well as provide community services and support.

This is part of how Federal Labor will ensure all Australians no matter their religious or cultural backgrounds receive a fair go.

This election is a choice between Labors plan for our local community or bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town under the Liberals.

After six years of Liberal cuts and chaos, our united Labor team is ready.

Only a Shorten Labor Government will deliver a fair go for Australias proud migrant and multicultural communities.
