Today we tabled a motion asking this Government to come clean and reveal the workings of the Turnbull - Morrison Governments GST plan.

Bill Shorten and Labor have committed to a unity ticket to ensure Western Australia gets our fair share.

Because Labor has led the way on giving Western Australia a fair share of the GST including commitment to legislate for a 70 cent and 75 cent floor.

Not until July this year did the Liberal Government catch on to our plan, yet there is still no detail from the Treasury.

Sadly, the Liberals havent had the decency to provide Western Australians any assurance they wont cut funding for schools, hospitals or infrastructure.

These are the facts;

  • Labor has committed to legislate a 70 cent floor for Western Australias GST Share in the first 100 days of a Shorten Labor Government from 2019-20
  • Labor has committed to further legislate a 75 cent floor from 2024-25
  • Scott Morrison continues to refuse to put his commitment to work on the GST in writing.
  • No plan has been provided to the States and Territories by the Morrison Government, despite a Premiers meeting expected for 1 October 2018

Why would any Western Australian trust the word of a Government that claimed it would continue Labors funding for schools then to turn around and cut $17 billion?

Why would any Western Australian trust a Government who said they wouldnt make cuts to the ABC?

Labor wants to see this problem fixed and are prepared to work with the Government, States and Territories.

We need to see the detail of this plan and we need to see a fair share for WA legislated.

Only Labor in Government will deliver a fair share for WA.
