Local MP meets year 7s to discuss Marriage Equality

07 August 2018

Local Federal Member for Burt, Matt Keogh MP received a number of letters from the Gifted & Talented Education (GATE) Year 7 students at Kelmscott Senior High School recently expressing their views on marriage equality.

Impressed by their articulate letters, Mr Keogh met with the class last week to discuss their questions about marriage equality and the forthcoming Survey, as well as life as a Federal MP.

I was a little surprised when I received a series of letters from year 7 students at Kelmscott Senior High School regarding their support for Marriage Equality. They were some of the best written letters Ive received on the topic.

Its great to meet students so engaged in political and social issue.

Mr Keogh also met with Year 9 Society & the Environment and Year 12 Political & Legal students to discuss modern political issues and life as an MP.

I cant say I was surprised that they wanted to speak to me about marriage equality and fixing up WAs share of the GST.

I was more surprised that one of the year 12s knew my youngest brother but thats what you get with a big local family, Mr Keogh said.
