KEOGH PARKS GRANT AT WILLIAM LANGFORD

26 March 2019

MATT KEOGH MP

FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BURT

Today I was proud to present William Langford Community House in Langford with a grant to improve the amenity of the centre by funding a resurfaced car park, to improve accessibility to the facility.

Ive secured the community centre $6,998 from the Burt Stronger Communities program to revamp the long neglected car park.

Over the last few years the upkeep on the centre has wavered and the car park has been progressively turbulent.

As a result community members have been increasingly reluctant to use the car park, instead taking unnecessary risks parking on the busy verge and road, creating a potential hazard.

The default in accessing the centre has resulted in decreased participation of community groups and educational programs at the centre.

With work on the car park recently completed, the uptake of programs at the centre has again begun to climb and the accessibility of the centre improved.

The work on the centre is just another way were building a better Burt for everyone.

The Burt Stronger Communities Program provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of our community.

Community groups interested in a grant in the future should contact my office.
